Research Assistant and Internship Program

The Climate Jobs Institute’s Research Assistantship and Internship program provides University of Illinois graduate students an opportunity to participate in groundbreaking research at the intersection of climate policy, labor, and economic development. Research Assistants will understand Illinois clean energy policy and contribute to applied research to support the state’s transition to a clean energy future.

How to Apply: University of Illinois graduate students from fields including Urban Planning, Economics, and Public Policy are invited to apply. To be considered for a summer 2024 internship, please apply by March 31, 2024. The deadline to apply for a fall 2024 Research Assistantship (with tuition reimbursement) is March 31, 2024.

The Climate Jobs Institute seeks to collaborate with researchers, institutes, and centers at the University of Illinois and elsewhere that are interested in the emerging field of labor, economic development, and the clean energy transition. Please reach out to discuss opportunities for collaboration and funding.

We are also interested in working with state agencies, policy makers, clean energy advocates, union labor, community-based organizations and more. We want to hear from you about the research needs that will support an equitable clean energy transition. Your input can help us shape our research agenda!
