Course Description & Goals

This comprehensive course allows you to stay at the front of your profession when navigating employment law & compliance. The course offers updates on legal developments that affect the work of HR professionals, consultants, and union leaders.

This course will help you stay informed on key legal decisions that affect compliance, anticipate changes in employee rights and employer obligations, and enhance your self-sufficiency in reading, analyzing, and locating resources relevant to your work environment. Topics covered in the course include: the expanding conservative legal agenda for workplace policies, women’s health, privacy, and benefits in the workplace, and workplace discrimination and privacy rights.

Course Dates & Structure

The course will meet via Zoom with the instructor on Tuesday evenings, April 22, April 29, and May 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. CST.

Case materials on recent legal decisions will be distributed to participants in advance of the classes, along with discussion questions.

$2,000 per participant

Certification and Credentials

Participants who complete the three core sessions (dates listed above) will earn a digital badge and certificate granted by the University of Illinois.

The course is also a qualifying activity eligible for six hours of professional development credits to be utilized towards SHRM recertification. The School of Labor and Employment Relations is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® recertification activities.
