Handshake

Handshake is Illinois’ campus-wide recruiting platform, where employers post tens of thousands of jobs and internships each year. Handshake is also your tool for all on-campus recruiting activities. Sign in at: handshake.illinois.edu.

New to Handshake?

Newly admitted on-campus student users must complete the LER Handshake orientation before you post your resume, search for opportunities and participate in on-campus recruiting.

  • Go to Handshake and register for a Student/Alumni account.
  • Go to Canvas to review all Handshake screenshot and video tutorials, and take the orientation quiz.

If you have questions about Handshake, contact LER Career Services.

Outside Resources

We always recommend that you are searching for jobs and internships on your own. Handshake obviously has many jobs, including those posted directly for LER students and alumni, but you should be using other resources as well. One idea is to use a site like ZipRecruiter, who has listings for HR jobs and internships.

HR Internships: https://www.ziprecruiter.com/Jobs/Human-Resources-Intern

They also have resources such as a salary calculator which, when combined with the information you can receive from LER Career Services, can be a helpful guide for negotiating offers that you receive outside of the LER on-campus recruiting process.
