In 2017, the School began visiting companies, alumni, and (hopefully) better weather over winter break. This opportunity gives students the chance to see themselves in different work environments and locations and has been popular with participants. In January, a group of about two dozen visited the Atlanta metro area. In previous years, groups have traveled to San Jose, Seattle, Dallas, and St. Louis.

In Atlanta, the group visited a Pepsi Bottling facility, UPS headquarters, the UPS SMART Hub sorting facility, Eaton’s Peachtree City Residential Lighting headquarters, and Delta’s headquarters.

The trip gave students the opportunity to meet HR leadership at all the locations, including alumni Kate Szyska, and Elizabeth Lopez from PepsiCo; VP’s Dave Carroll and Thomas Wood from UPS; Jen Zappia, Sarah Curtis, Umang Amin, Sylvia Syp, Cheynne Demers, and Alena Fredericks from Delta; and Dan Treiber, Colleen Hogan, and Payton Wellbaum from Eaton. The group was also greeted by non-alumni leadership at PepsiCo, with VP Michael Rady, and UPS, with VP Dan Hawksworth and CHRO Darrell Ford.

Trip highlights included seeing the speed of beverage manufacturing, learning about EV chargers, evacuating a commercial aircraft, seeing a package sorting facility that processes 104k packages an hour, getting caught by the Vice President’s motorcade, and meeting alumni at happy hour.

We hope to catch you on a future trip!
