Tim Brinkmann, AM ’90
Human Resources Leader, Frito-Lay East Field Division
Tim Brinkmann supports LER annually in a very important way: hiring fellow LER graduates into the HR function at PepsiCo. This year he has already worked to secure nine interns for summer 2015 employment within their organization, and is on pace to possibly match or exceed the largest number of LER interns hosted by a company – a record he currently holds since hiring 13 interns in summer 2011.
“LER has been integral to our pipeline of HR talent into PepsiCo. We have found that these students adapt extremely well to our PepsiCo HR Model. Our relationship with LER is an important one. It not only leads to a great pipeline of quality students, but also allows us to share industry human resource trends and learn about the latest academic thinking in the world of human resources. Through this relationship and the scholarship program, we have built our reputation as an employer of choice and we are proud to be involved and partner with LER,” says Tim.
As a fellowship recipient himself during his tenure at LER, Tim has also worked to help secure continued funding from PepsiCo for talented incoming students. PepsiCo is currently funding two annual scholarships, and more than 30 scholarships dating back to 1987 have been funded by Frito Lay, Pepsi Bottling Group and PepsiCo.
“My experience at The Institute – now LER – might not have been possible without the fellowship I received from Union Carbide,” recalls Tim. “Making that opportunity available to other students and then making the connections to start successful careers for a number of graduates is a very gratifying experience.”
