Madigan has been at LER since 2001 and is the primary contact for corporate relations and all career-related activities. She advises LER students on matters related to career development and job placement, including coordination of career workshops for LER students on subjects such as resume writing, job search techniques and interviewing skills. She holds primary responsibility for building relationships with new companies to become partners with and recruit at the School, and managing ongoing relationships with long-time partners across a variety of industries, including Cummins, ExxonMobil, PepsiCo, and General Mills.

She coordinates group activities with faculty and staff, ensures the efficient operation of the School and daily administrative functions, including the content and maintenance of the LER Web site, and serves as the advisor for the award-winning student SHRM chapter. In addition to her School responsibilities she serves on the campus-wide Career Services Council (Chair, 2004-05), the CSC Steering Committee and Chief Communications Officer’s committee. She played a key role in establishing the ongoing Hire Illini marketing campaign, targeting employers for enhanced recruiting relationships with the University, and is involved in ongoing activities to enhance the campaign.

Nell has presented at NACE, Midwest ACE and Illinois ACE on a variety of topics ranging from ethics to etiquette. She has held a variety of leadership positions with the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers, serving on the assembly from 2006-2008 and the executive board since 2009. Currently, she serves as Past-President for the organization, and she received the 2010 Midwest ACE President’s Award for meritorious leadership and service as well as the 2015 JW Paquette Superior Leadership award.

She regularly gives presentations on etiquette to students and professionals across her campus and community, in addition to a variety of presentations on networking and personal branding. In addition to other professional activities, she serves on the Boards of Directors for JB Training Solutions.
