School of Labor and Employment Relations

The School of Labor and Employment Relations is excited to host its inaugural Soderstrom Symposium on April 9 at 5 pm. This special event will bring together scholars and industry leaders for a thoughtful conversation on workers’ rights in today’s global economy.

The symposium will begin with a keynote address by Dr. Mark Anner, Dean and Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University’s School of Management and Labor Relations. His talk, “The Long Journey for Workers’ Rights in Global Supply Chains,” will explore the challenges and progress shaping labor standards worldwide.

Following the keynote, a reaction panel will feature Paul Hawes, AM 89, retired labor executive from Shell; Jennifer Herkt, Vice President of Human Resources at UPS; Pat O’Gorman, MHRIR 21, Business Representative for IUOE Local 399; and Tingting Zhang, Assistant Professor at LER. The discussion will be moderated by Professor Johnnie Kallas.

An on-site reception will follow the panel, allowing attendees to continue the conversation and connect with fellow guests.

This event is being hosted in celebration of the Reuben G. Soderstrom International Labor Professorship and the Soderstrom family’s commitment to the success of the School of Labor and Employment Relations.
