On May 13th, 2023, The School of Labor and Employment Relations at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, held its graduation ceremony at Lincoln Hall Theater.

The ceremony began with Dean Ingrid Fulmer congratulating the graduates on their hard work in completing this program. Then, Kim Martin, AM 98, gave an inspiring, heartfelt speech called “Just Start,” where she spoke about how important it is to leave your fears behind and embark on the journeys that come your way in your career and life. Following Kim was the student speaker, Mahum Zeeshan Chaudhary, selected by her fellow graduates to put into words the hardships and outstanding accomplishments they persevered through during their time at LER. Lastly, before the presentation of candidates, Associate Dean for Online Graduate Education and Associate Professor Amit Kramer was presented with the LER Faculty Teaching Excellence Award / Walt Franke Student Development Opportunity Fund. The ceremony was followed by drinks and refreshments at LER for the most recent alumni and their families.

Congratulations to our recent graduates. We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you accomplish! Thank you, Kim, for coming back to LER to give such great advice to the graduates, and thank you to all of those who attended.
