The School of Labor and Employment Relations is pleased to share that Dr. Ingrid S. Fulmer has been selected to serve as the new dean, following the retirement of Fritz Drasgow this month. Dean Designate Fulmer’s appointment will begin July 1, pending approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees.

Dr. Fulmer is the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement and Faculty Affairs at Rutgers University – New Brunswick and Professor in Human Resource Management at the School of Management and Labor Relations. She earned a Ph.D. in Management and Organization Studies from Vanderbilt University. She has expertise in human resource management, organizational behavior, and business ethics.

Ingrid previously served as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and as Director of the Ph.D. program in the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers. She also serves on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Management and previously served as International Co-chairperson of the European Institute of Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM) annual workshop on Strategic Human Resource Management. In her “first career,” prior to completing her Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University and entering academia, she worked as a CPA and consultant.

Her research and teaching are in the areas of human resource management and organizational behavior. Her current research interests include compensation system design, pay communication and transparency, valuation of organizational human capital, and management of former employees.

She also studies social interactions among people and groups in organizations. Her research has been published in Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, Business Ethics Quarterly, and Journal of Business Ethics, as well as in other journals and edited volumes.
