Alison Dickson Quesada

Alison joined the Labor Education Program as Program Coordinator in January, 2011. In this capacity, she heads up and teaches for the Worker Solidarity Project, a new LEP initiative that provides bilingual (Spanish-English) workers’ rights training for immigrant and other low-wage workers. In addition to her teaching, Alison conducts applied and scholarly research that focuses on workers, workplaces, and economic devolvement. Alison also coordinates the annual Regina V. Polk Women’s Labor Leadership Conference.

Prior to joining LEP, Alison worked at the UIC Center for Urban Economic Development (CUED) where she contributed to the landmark 2008 study of low-wage workers, industries and occupations in America’s three largest cities. Before her time at CUED, Alison worked for a number of years as a community and labor organizer in Ohio and Los Angeles.

Alison received her Master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Economic Development from the George Washington University in Washington, DC. She has also spent time studying and living in Nicaragua and Cuba.
